The routes that are included in the Bayernnetz für Radler must meet various quality criteria.

The basic requirement is that the route has a safe alignment and is a safe condition. The route may only run along separate cycle paths, agricultural roads or roads with little traffic.

The route must be signposted uniformly in accordance with the Bavarian leaflet ‘Faltblatt zur wegweisenden Beschilderung’ and additionally marked with the Bayernnetz für Radler logo (‘Y’ logo). The respective thematic routes must also be consistently marked.

The route should have facilities that are as family-friendly as possible, e.g. rest areas, playgrounds, etc. and lead through attractive landscapes and to tourist attractions.

A responsible contact person must be named for each route.

The route must contribute to the large-scale networking of cycle routes in Bavaria and, if possible, have a connection to public transport with bicycle transport.
