Everyday cycling connections between Bavaria’s cities and municipalities

The Bavarian Cycling Network (RVNB) is creating a statewide network for everyday cycling that connects the main centers of all Bavarian towns and municipalities with one another as directly and seamlessly as possible. The Free State is designing and implementing this overarching everyday cycling network in collaboration with local authorities.

Following extensive coordination with rural districts, independent cities, and state construction offices, as well as the refinement of the network draft, the RVNB is now available as a target network. As a cohesive, service-oriented plan, this target network serves to guide the targeted development of cycling connections across the Free State. It indicates where cycling connections between the main centers of Bavarian towns and municipalities already exist or should be routed in the future. The connections follow the alignment of existing roads and paths—or routes otherwise best suited for cycling. The Free State’s goal, in partnership with local municipalities, is to create attractive, continuous, and safe cycling connections within the RVNB for the long term.
